Ampharos, which evokes the image of a lighthouse, is the perfect Pokémon for Nagasaki, a place that has historically welcomed foreign ships and spread their culture throughout Japan. “Denderaryuba,” a folk song widely known in Nagasaki, has the sounds “den” and “ryu,” reminiscent of Ampharos's Japanese name, “Denryu.”
“Poké Lids” will be installed throughout the prefecture!
As part of a partnership agreement between Nagasaki Prefecture and The Pokémon Company, Pokémon utility hole covers (Poké Lids) will be installed in 21 areas in Nagasaki Prefecture. The Poké Lids depict “Ampharos” with a background design inspired by the landscape of the area. The five Poké Lids shown below will be installed by the end of August, 2024.
