Unzen Nita Pass

Unzen Nita Pass is famous for their azaleas in the spring, green colors in the summer, autumn leaves in the fall, and frosty fog in the winter. Enjoy the cable-car ride up to the top for breathtaking views. A brand new trekking path allows hikers to enjoy the mountain flowers including autume leaves and wild birds, as well as stunning close-up views of Heisei Shinzan, the peak newly-formed by the 1990s Fugendake eruption.

Jufukuji Temple

 Jufukuji Temple is most well known for its inverted autumn foliage during fall season. For a limited time only, several tatami mats inside the viewing hall are replaced with acrylic boards, and creating a gorgeous reflection of autumn colors generated from the maple trees outside. Come and sip a cup of tea while you enjoy the stunning autumn foliage and the calming atmosphere of this temple.

Misojien

The colors of Japanese maples at Misojien are breathtakingly beautiful. Hidden in the mountains of Unzen, this secret garden is a must see for lovers of autumn foliage!

While the land is actually private property, the owner who lovingly planted and cares for the trees as a hobby, opens the garden to the public when the leaves start to color.
Lighting has been specifically placed to illuminate and highlight the beauty of the trees in the evenings, creating an enchanting atmosphere.

Opening Time to Public: from November 22th to Mid-December, 2024 (9:00~21:30) ※lights up after sunset
Entry Fee: 500JPY
Approximately 100 parking lots available. 
 

Shushi Maple Street

Shushi Forest Park in Kamitsushima-cho, Tsushima City is a beautiful spot for viewing autumn leaves. Along the 7 km Maple Street that follows the Shushi River, the colored maple tree leaves create beautiful scenery together with verdant evergreens. The river surface is like a mirror, and glossy reflections of the autumnal leaves are always a hit on social media! Enjoy the colors of fall in Japan while relaxing and listening to the sound of a clear and pure stream amidst the nature.
A variety of events are held every year in early November during the Momiji Festival.
