An observatory offering a panoramic view of Tachibana Bay. From here, you can see the inlets of Tachibana Bay, Chijiwa coast, and even Mount Unzen Fugen-dake in the distance.
The observatory is also located on a fault, allowing visitors to observe the Chijiwa Fault, which is believed to started activating about 300,000 years ago. The Chijiwa Tourist Center is a perfect spot for taking a break during your driving travel. 'Jagachan' (fried potatoes coated with a secret batter), one of the locally-loved foods, is must-try gourmet here!
