Wakamatsu Oura Church

The statue of Mother Mary on the altar is a must-see!

Although it can be seen from a main road, this rustic church with its small village feel is often overlooked. On the altar in the chancel sits a statue of the Mother Mary made by a Oura Village local. Her depiction is different from that of western Mother Mary statues, featuring a plump face. Decorative roses are placed at her feet in offering.
