Throughout 1817-1829, Catholics moved from Omura Domain's Konora to here to maintain their faith during the era of Christian oppression. Arifuku's four hidden Christians saw a resurgence in Catholicism as a result of missionary work during and following the Meiji Period. In 1927, a church was constructed on the western side out of wood. It features a layered roof design.
